Suze Orman and redemption

Yesterday, Suze Orman hit rock bottom: $50,000 in debt, her dream gone, and the gift of a lifetime squandered by a careless broker.
But this is where the story starts to climb.
Orman's life story is as full of dramatic plot twists as a Victor Hugo novel. Redemption, poverty, and transformation: all the elements of Les Miserables are there, with Orman as Jean Valjean.
Orman was devastated after losing the $50,000 entrusted to her by patrons of the Buttercup Café. The money had been intended to fund her dream of opening a restaurant, but it vanished due to reckless investments.
Paradoxically, the fact that a broker at Merrill Lynch had lost her money gave her the confidence to apply to become one herself. Orman applied for a position at the very same Merrill Lynch office where her money had been lost. Despite the branch manager telling her he felt woman should be barefoot and pregnant and that he didn't expect her to last six months, she was accepted into their stockbroker training program.
As she delved deeper into the industry, Orman discovered that the broker who lost her funds had acted unethically. She took the bold step of suing Merrill Lynch while still employed there. The ongoing lawsuit meant the company could not fire her and eventually resulted in a settlement that allowed her to repay the lost $50,000 to her former patrons.*
Orman's journey from a waitress to a financial advisor was marked by her resilience and laid the foundation for her future career.
Tomorrow in My Daily Oracle: How Suze Orman built a financial empire and became a guide for millions seeking financial freedom.
*Orman says she holds no grudge against Merrill Lynch and calls it "a fine, upstanding, and honest brokerage firm" that just happened to hire someone who didn’t uphold their standards and who is now long gone.
